On Saturday October 23rd, the Friends of St. Helen\u2019s CofE primary school completely transformed the Wheathampstead Parish Council Memorial Hall, changing it into an impressive Circus Spectacular Ball. The event was attended by 148 people and managed to raise \u01417850, funds that will be used to supply the students with computer tablets for the classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Circus Spectacular Ball was a unique and exciting black tie \naffair that managed to combine Glitz and glamour with a colourful circus\n flair, starting off with a lovely champagne reception that included \njugglers and fire eaters who thrilled arriving guests with their very \nunique and exhilarating talents. During a scrumptious 3 course dinner a \nraffle was drawn and afterwards an auction was held for prizes that \nincluded 2 nights in a nice London hotel, international rugby tickets \nand receiving a delightful afternoon tea that is brought to your home by\n Buttercup Trading, a charming local business. The event was topped off \nby an evening of dancing to the live music provided by the band \u2018Alive\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helen Caldwell, one of the many participants associated with the \nFriends of St Helen\u2019s organising team, pointed out the fact that \neveryone involved in the event worked tirelessly to completely transform\n the hall, from enhancing the lighting, to applying wallpaper and \nhanging fabric. By the time the team was finished the hall was \ntransformed into a circus extravaganza. The Friends of St. Helen\u2019s, with\n the help of some of the guests, managed to create an event that \neveryone thoroughly enjoyed and won\u2019t soon forget. Everyone was \nespecially touched by the generosity of local businesses who donated \ntheir services including London\u2019s own Casablanca Marquees event hire \nservice who provided their top of the line tables and chairs hires for \nfree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school\u2019s extraordinary Ball is held every two years and the money\n raised during their events are used to improve the lives of their \nschool children. The group \u201cFriends of St Helens\u201d is made up of PTA \nmembers (parents of children attending the school are automatically \nmembers) who are devoted to the school and have raised thousands of \npounds that has been used for new school equipment and more, improving \nupon the school\u2019s facilities and enhancing the student\u2019s education.
