Malaysian Kitchen Spring Market and Streets of Spain Festival at the Southbank Centre

Casablanca Catering Hire were busy over the Bank Holiday Weekend as we took to London’s Southbank to provide our marquee, gazebo and event hire services to two food and cultural festivals celebrating all things Spanish and Malaysian.

Our event hire team were working from Friday to Monday to provide our first class services to the Streets of Spain Festival, held at the Southbank Centre from Friday 1st May to Monday 4th May, and the Malaysia Kitchen Spring Market, held on the River Thames from on Saturday 2nd May to Sunday 3rd May.

As London’s premier event hire company Casablanca Hire is always well equipped to cater for more than one event at a time, and we showed this across the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend.

Streets of Spain Festival

From Friday 1st May to Monday 4th May Casablanca Catering Hire pitched their red and yellow gazebos down in the Southbank Centre for Campo Viejo’s Streets of Spain Festival 2015.

This pop-up festival has been run for the past three years and is a celebration of all things Spanish, with food, drink and culture drawing in crowds in excess of 300,000 across the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Casablanca Catering Hire gladly provided fifty gazebos for the event, all coloured either red or yellow to match with the Spanish theme, and also provided an extensive array of furniture for the event as well.

Casablanca Catering Hire’s gazebos and furniture could be seen across all the main aspects of the festival; in the Las Ramblas food market, the Plaza Mayor music stage and Logroño, where Campo Viejo hosted some wine masterclasses including Soundscape, this year’s new installation, where people could hear the flavours of the wine whilst they were tasting it!

Malaysia Kitchen Spring Market

The Malaysia Kitchen Spring Market, held from Saturday 2nd May to Sunday 3rd May, took place in between the OXO Tower and Waterloo Bridge in a showcase of all things Malaysian.

The smell of authentic Malaysian cuisine would have been floating down the Southbank’s Riverside Walkway as chefs from 12 different Malaysian restaurants displayed their culinary flair as well as their culinary roots with a variety of dishes from satay to laksa.

Casablanca Catering Hire was called upon to provide 30 marquees for the two-day event where attendees could sample the amazing food on offer as well as enjoying Malaysian culture, epitomised through the performances of singer Bonnie Freechyld and her band who were performing across the two days.

Alongside the cuisine and performances it also gave attendees the opportunity to purchase authentic Malaysian ingredients from stalls, giving them the chance to recreate some of the dishes on offer at the festival at home with the same ingredients to give an extra dimension.

Casablanca Catering Hire’s services enabled both festivals to achieve maximum coverage for all the attendees and gave each festival and added dimension as it allowed for a greater range of experiences to be realised.

We really enjoyed our weekend working with some wonderful people and we look forward to helping out with our marquees, gazebos and event furniture during next year’s May Day Bank Holiday!
